Fresh Blood posted a terrific review a while back, and here’s just a little taste:
Although Halloween is still some months away, there’s no excuse not to get yourself in the mood with a good Halloween tale. Which is exactly what authors Brian James Freeman and Norman Prentiss have delivered with The Halloween Children – a solid, creepy, tale of horror and paranoia, in the vein of Stephen King’s The Shining.
Char’s Horror Corner recently posted a terrific review, and here’s just a little taste:
Beautifully conceived and executed, The Halloween Children is a great and spooky read for anytime of year… Highly recommended, especially to fans of atmospheric, psychological horror!
The eBook edition of Dark Screams: Volume Two is currently on sale at the heavily discounted price of just 99 cents for a limited time only!

THE OLD DUDE’S TICKER by Stephen King
Richard Drogan has been spooked ever since he came back from ’Nam, but he’s no head case, dig? He just knows the old dude needs to die.
THE RICH ARE DIFFERENT by Lisa Morton
Even though she made her name revealing the private lives of the rich and famous, Sara Peck has no idea how deep their secrets really go . . . or the price they’ll pay to get what they desire.
THE MANICURE by Nell Quinn-Gibney
A trip to the nail salon is supposed to be relaxing. But as the demons of the past creep closer with every clip, even the most serene day of pampering can become a nightmare.
THE COMFORTING VOICE by Norman Prentiss
It’s a little strange how baby Lydia can only be soothed by her grandfather’s unnatural voice, ravaged by throat cancer. The weirdest part? What he’s saying is more disturbing than how he says it.
THE SITUATIONS by Joyce Carol Oates
There are certain lessons children must learn, rules they must follow, scars they must bear. No lesson is more important than this: Never question Daddy. Or else.
THE CORPSE KING by Tim Curran
Grave robbers Kearney and Clow keep one step ahead of the law as they ply their ghoulish trade, but there’s no outrunning a far more frightening enemy that hungers for the dead.

FURTHEREST by Kaaron Warren
She’s been going to the beach since she was a child, daring the other kids to go out past the dunes where those boys died all those years ago. Now she realizes that the farther out you go, the harder it is to come back.
THE EXPEDITION by Bill Schweigart
On a quest to bring glory to the Führer, Lieutenant Dietrich Drexler leads his team into the ruins of the Carpathian Mountains. But the wolf that’s stalking them is no ordinary predator.
SNOW SHADOWS by Mick Garris
A schoolteacher’s impulsive tryst with a colleague becomes a haunting lesson in tragedy and terror when he’s targeted for revenge by an unlikely, unhinged rival.
For example, The Behrg has posted a review that represents a very fair and balanced assessment of the novel — and of course I would say that considering the praise you’ll find in this short excerpt:
The savvy reader begins to get the real picture of what’s going on by what’s NOT being said. I’ve always enjoyed the unreliable narrator motif, and it’s used here in quite a unique way that’s not fully understood until you reach the end… this has one of the best endings for a book I’ve ever read. The thematic metaphors woven throughout one of the most tragic and shocking finales you’ll find… as I was reading I felt as if my jaw kept dropping lower and lower. Beautifully crafted, this is horror that will affect even the most jaded of horror fans.
